Garden Update

Since I picked the first radishes of the season, the garden has been producing steadily and the variety has been a great improvement over last year.

Despite a very dark and rainy start, and then a short burst of intense heat, and now quickly cooling nights, most of the plants have done quite well.

Currently, the cherry and small tomatoes are starting to ripen in useable but not crazy quantity.

I've loved pulling a scallion or table onion whenever I need one, and adding curly and flat leaf parsley to everything has been a fresh way to add tons of phytonutrients to any dish.

Every few days, a couple nice strawberries are ready.  I'd had no idea have a real live cabbage patch would be so cute!  Until growing them, I didn't realize they grew out first and then curled up to form the head! (I hadn't thought about how thew grew at all, really).

The japanese and Ophelia eggplants have each born a couple fruits.  And the hot peppers are starting to ripen, even on very small plants!

The felt bag planters have worked very well.  We've fertilized twice with a low dose of Happy Frog.

Overall, this has felt like a more sane approach to gardening, and I've had enough produce to pick a few things (every day) to cook with, have enough for a big weekend family meal or two, and plenty to give away to neighbors and friends.
